Windows 8 couldn't be activated - the file name, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect

I was recently setting up my Windows 8 Enterprise inside a Hyper V server doing my mini-network lab. When I tried activating it, I encountered an error telling me that "Windows couldn't be activated, Error 0x8007007B - The file name, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect".

Cisco VPN client failed to enable Virtual Adapter (Reason 442)

I recently upgraded my Windows 7 desktop PC to the latest Microsoft client OS - Windows 8. Since VPN is part of my daily work, I installed a Cisco VPN 64-bit client on my Windows 8 Enterprise PC, unfortunately I can't make it work and it shows an error, "Reason 442: Failed to enable Virtual Adapter."

Face to Face Meeting with PHIWUG

PHIWUG or Philippine Windows Users Group, is a non-profit local community of Microsoft Windows users ranging from Server Administrators, Engineers and enthusiasts coming together to share and learn from each other on the topics related to Windows with emphasis on Windows Platforms.

Ritche, my officemate, and I had the opportunity to meet with the PHIWUG's Core Group and very honored for including us as their new members. Special thanks to John Delizo for allowing and inviting us to join the group and the meeting.

Thanks John, you're the man! :)

Windows 8 Feature: Client Hyper-V

Client Hyper-V is the same computer virtualization technology that was previously available in Windows Server. In Windows 8 Pro, the technology is now built into the non-server version of Windows, often called the “desktop” version because it does not run on server-class hardware. Client Hyper-V provides the same virtualization capabilities as Hyper-V in Windows Server 2012. A similar functionality in Windows 7 is called Windows XP Mode.

So basically, it's the replacement of Microsoft VPC and Windows VPC. All I can say is, this virtualization program from Microsoft is a powerful tool!

GoDaddy hosted websites down 'in possible hack attack'

Thousands of websites hosted by one of the world's biggest internet domain registrars and web hosts, GoDaddy, were reported down on Monday.

"Status Alert: Hey, all. We're aware of the trouble people are having with our site. We're working on it," the website host said.

One Twitter feed allegedly linked to Anonymous claimed credit for a hack but the cause is far from clear.

GoDaddy said later that most websites were back online.

It said on its Twitter account: "We're working out the last few kinks for our site & control centers. No customer data compromised."

Earlier, the company, which hosts millions of sites around the world, apologised for the frustration of some of its customers.

One Twitter feed, @AnonymousOwn3r, had said that "all servers" of Go Daddy had been taken down.
